What we are looking forWe are looking for a Senior Project Engineer to continue our growth in the Solid Waste and Electric Utility industries in our west suburban Chicago office (Naperville). Senior Project Engineers manage both clients and projects and help develop junior staff. As a Senior Project Engineer, you will oversee the development of technical reports and engineering design documents. Project management involves delegating work, tracking project financials, and providing technical document reviews. Remote (at-home) work flexibility is possible in this position.As part of our Upper Midwest regional team, you will draw from our network of professionals in Madison, Milwaukee, and Chicago. If you are looking for a position to use your technical skills and lead projects in a growth oriented environmental firm, SCS Engineers needs you.How you can make an impactYou will help our clients address their environmental challenges, which may include:* Permitting, design, and construction* Municipal solid waste landfills* Landfill gas and biogas* Coal ash landfills and impoundments* Sustainable materials management* Recycling* Waste minimization studies* Organics management* CompostingYour project management responsibilities will include:* Serving as the primary lead and point of contact for projects* Leading permitting and regulatory agency coordination efforts* Developing strategies to solve technical challenges* Leading, mentoring, and delegating to junior staff to advance their knowledge and career path.* Reviewing designs, drawings, calculations, and permit documents for final submittal to the client or applicable agenciesYou will contribute to our growth by:* Leading or having an active role in client prospecting and development* Drafting and reviewing proposals and associated cost estimates* Helping us grow the number and value of projects we do for existing customers* Actively attending Trade Shows, presenting on technical topics, and being involved in professional associations and committeesDelegating work and reviewing work product for accuracy and qualityQualifications* Bachelor's or Masters of Science Degree in an environmental related science or engineering field required* 10+ years of related work experience required, with 5+ years in consulting required* Willingness to participate in business development in the Chicago area market required* Experience managing project financials* Knowledge of applicable regulatory agencies and applicable codes.* Outstanding customer service track record* Valid driver's license and driving record in good standing requiredWhether it's reducing methane emissions at agricultural facilities and landfills, repurposing contaminated properties, producing alternative energy, or sequestering carbon, we've been focused on finding smart climate solutions and improving the natural environment since our inception over 50 years ago.
