right candidate for the Director of People and Culture role. This
is a hybrid role with the home office located in Naperville IL.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities:
The first priority of this new role is to build out the HR
department. The incumbent will develop and lead all things HR. Lead
our culture practices, train, and develop at all levels of the
organization, as well as provide leadership, coaching, expertise,
and support in all essential HR functions. You will be proactively
partnering with the people leaders to drive culture and strategy
and foster growth.
Build the entire HR department from the beginning.
Create and oversee the implementation of programs that build
opportunity, equity, and inclusion, and champion the culture of
books and book publishing.
Proactively engage employees to improve working relationships,
connections, productivity, and retention; communicate openly and
frequently, keeping all employees informed on all pertinent
Create a dynamic program of training and development opportunities
that reinforce our vision, mission, and values while providing
empowerment and engagement and growth.
Partner with people leaders to create a program of training;
identify and address gaps in building high-performing teams through
talent assessment, career development, and succession planning.
Work with business leaders to place the right people in the right
roles to support career growth and business success.
In partnerships across the organization, develop creative programs
that will drive our culture and growth mindset through all aspects
of the business of book publishing.
Advise, counsel, and influence decisions that impact our people
with a focus on maintaining our culture and mission in those

empowering and engaging people at all levels of the
Minimum Requirements, Qualifications, Additional Skills,
Minimum 10 years HR business partner experience.
Prefer experience as HR Department of One
Bachelor's degree in Human Resources Management or a related field
Proven ability to interact with and influence leaders.
Ability to work successfully under pressure and handle multiple
highly sensitive issues and competing priorities.
