The Director of Learning Effectiveness reports into the Associate Provost and is responsible for tracking, reporting and assessing all learning effectiveness and improvement opportunities for the university. Assessment includes the evaluation of instructional quality, course delivery, faculty and student engagement, student learning, and student outcomes. The position is expected to collaborate with academic leaders to support academic policies and procedures that promote effective learning for onsite and online students. Additionally the director will be responsible for overseeing data analysis including systemic analysis of data to support decision-making, preparation of standard reports, as well as the design, development, and implementation of an interactive academic dashboard. system. The person in the role will work in close collaboration with data users and institutional data stewards that enable information sharing, collaboration, compliance, measurement, and planning. Responsibilities:

  • Ensure that each program upholds the mission statement and adheres to standards for learning and accreditation status.
  • Designs and conducts evaluation processes for the university that focuses on the factors that impact the complete student academic journey, both session to session and annually.
  • Provides ongoing analysis of data science research to inform academic decisions regarding programs, courses, assignments, and delivery including scheduling .
  • Oversees the compiling and analysis of the quantitative data on facets of the university and related educational issues, including areas such as enrollments, student persistence, student transfer activities, enrollment projections, grades, other student performance indicators.
  • Develops, tracks and reports out on the "return on student investment" (ROSI) to be published internally and externally
  • Ensures the ongoing automation of data refresh of all academic data through a centralized academic dashboard, along with exploring advances in data housing and reporting
  • Creates and presents annual summaries and trend analysis on programs, courses, student learning to be used in the ongoing academic strategic planning
  • Performs analysis and creates forecasting models of potential new programs, learning models and delivery opportunities to improve learning effectiveness, as needed Qualifications:
    • Minimum of 10 years professional experience in leading institutional effectiveness and assessment, with progressively greater responsibility.
    • Experience operationalizing the use of data and data analytics.
    • Has worked with an array of technologies pertinent to data architecture and data analytics in higher education.
    • Demonstrated ability to synthesize disparate information of multiple types from multiple sources; ability to formulate strategies based upon this synthesis; ability to implement these strategies.
    • Strong leadership and organization skills; proven ability to manage time and priorities, ability to manage complex projects and tasks with attention to detail; ability to effectively lead cross-functional teams.
    • Strong oral and written communications skills; demonstrated ability to communicate effectively with colleagues with different areas and levels of technical expertise.
    • Strong interpersonal, organizational, conflict resolution, management, and organizational skills.
