year License: RN Certifications: BLS, ACLS, NIH Must-Have: Good
general med/surg skillset required. Cardiac rhythm interpretation
skills needed. Drain management experience (JP, hemovac). NGT
placement and management experience. Central line management (PICC)
experience. CBI, dressing changes, and wound care skills required.
Telemetry experience is necessary. Description: This position
involves floating to different medical-surgical units throughout
the facility. The nurse will care for patients across various types
of conditions including general surgical, cardiac, neuro, oncology,
and orthopedic cases. Patient types include post-operative
surgical, chronic illness management, and general medical.
Experience with high-acuity patients, including those with cardiac
issues, strokes, and post-operative care, is required. The float
pool nurse will support wherever needed within the medical-surgical
units. Patient ratios for days are 1:5 and for nights are 1:6.
Support on the unit includes a charge nurse who takes a patient
assignment. Additional support from a unit secretary is available
during day shifts. Centralized telemetry monitoring is utilized,
and charting is done primarily through EPIC. Floating is expected
to various medical-surgical units and includes assistance where
applicable. Weekends involve rotating schedules every other week,
and holiday expectations are based on the nurse's start date. Scrub
colors must be appropriate with no camo, denim, or logos.
