Position Purpose: Position Purpose: Provide therapeutic
recreational activities for all residential patients. Provide
continuity of program services in an ethical, legal and moral
manner within a safe environment, consistent with applicable
regulatory and accreditation standards. Participate as a team
member in the delivery of services to patients and their families.
Qualifications/Basic Job Requirements: Bachelor’s Degree with two
years experience in therapeutic recreation setting, or an
equivalent combination of education, training and experience •
Certification as a registered recreation professional with
specialization in therapeutic recreation by the National Council
for Therapeutic Recreation Certification (NCTRC) • Minimum of 5
years of professional recreational therapy experience with the
behavioral health population and /or hospital setting or
residential setting. • Minimum of 2 years of demonstrated
supervisory responsibilities or an equivalent combination of
education, training and experience • Must be emotionally and
medically able to perform essential job responsibilities • Must be
free from active or infectious diseases Knowledge, Skills and
Abilities: • Principles and practices of recreation therapy, art
therapy and athletic activities • Group dynamics and individual
behavior in a mental health and substance abuse treatment setting •
Principles and practices of budget preparation, personnel
administration, supervision and training • Current technology and
trends in the profession • Ability to establish multi-disciplinary
relationships Essential Responsibilities: 1. Work hours prescribed
by the Administrator and any additional hours deemed necessary for
the responsibilities assigned. 2. Assesses, plans, implements and
evaluates individual and group recreational therapy activities as
appropriate. 3. Reviews and evaluates subordinates’ plans for
recreational programming. 4. Compiles statistics, and analyzes
departmental data. 5. Ensures that departmental documentation is
current and relevant as well as meets company and regulatory
standards. 6. Understand and comply with all of the principles
established by the Rosecrance Corporate Compliance Program and Code
of Ethics. 7. Serve as a role model for other staff, patients and
customers and demonstrate positive guest relations in representing
Rosecrance. 8. Supervise the ETD Staff, including orientation,
training, regular supervisory meetings and/or feedback, scheduled
evaluations and disciplinary interventions as required. 9. Assume
responsibility for the equipment, supplies and physical maintenance
of ET areas and request necessary repairs or services from the
Administrator or Maintenance Supervisor. 10. Participate in the
Performance Improvement and Utilization Review process and serve on
committees as directed. 11. Serve as a member of the Administrative
Team and participate in all team meetings and activities. 12.
Provide integrated screening, clinical assessment, treatment plan
and treatment for both Mental Health and substance abuse for
applicable patients. 13. Provide 15-20 direct patient care hours
per week in addition to individual session hours, documentation,
clinical staffing, and leadership/company-wide duties. 14. Provide
regular staff-development via trainings, symposiums, etc. to ensure
knowledge of the role of experiential therapies in addiction
treatment and proper facilitation techniques. 15. Actively
participate as a member of the interdisciplinary treatment team and
attend clinical staffing. 16. Maintain evidence-based curriculum on
recreational therapy and art therapy which is relevant to adult
population and ensure adherence to each ETD discipline standards of
practice. 17. Ensure patient attendance in groups provided and
evaluate satisfaction with ETD programs as well as patient
outcomes. 18. Plan and implement regular recovery enhancement
activities for both patients and staff to improve motivation,
culture, and morale. 19. Demonstrate proactive initiative in
researching and educating staff about appropriate experiential
activities. 20. Serve on company-wide committees as indicated to
ensure cohesiveness of all Rosecrance facilities. 21. Maintain
appropriate certification (CTRS- Certified Therapeutic Recreation
Specialist) including continuing education units. 22. Assume other
related responsibilities as assigned by management. Schedule:

Based on education, experience and credentials Starting rate for
Bachelors - $28.49/hour Starting rate for Masters - $32.26/hour
Professional Certification (e.g., CADC, CRSS, or CPS): $0.72/hour
