Position Information Posting Number S000656 Position Title Director of Technology Infrastructure Department Division Information & Technology Supervisor Title Vice President of Information & Technology, CIO Status Full Time Regular Position Summary To manage and lead technology infrastructure in order to support the needs of the College, the Director of Technology Infrastructure will develop and direct operational plans for the network, email, servers, computers, labs and telecommunications; as well as work very closely with the Help Desk team. This position requires a high degree of interaction with faculty, staff, and students to ensure the highest level of customer service and best practice methodologies. Provides daily management of direct reports and influential management of all technical staff (inside ITS and out). Works closely with the Director of Technology Innovation and the VP of IT, CIO in developing operational plans and overall departmental strategic planning. Description of Key Responsibilities 1. Build and communicate the operational and strategic infrastructure plan. With the CIO align the ITS goals and objectives with the College's strategic plan.

2. Develop, plan, test and document the Disaster Recovery Plan. Assist in building, planning, testing and documenting the College's Business Continuity Plan.

3. Maintain, enhance and ensure the availability and scalability of critical technology infrastructure.

4. Conduct meetings with key stakeholders to validate understanding of goals, define success metrics/criteria, and communicate strategy. Partner with business and technology subject matter experts to elicit and translate College requirements into technological solutions.

5. Collaborate across departments, divisions and the College to identify innovative uses of technology to meet strategic and operational goals.

6. Define, create and communicate project plans for technology infrastructure projects, portfolios, and product prioritization and implementation.

7. Understand cyber and physical security and identify/implement security controls needed to protect College assets.

8. Direct the activities of the network engineers and system administrators.

9. Direct the activities of the telecommunications, computer and support operations teams.

10. Set priorities and performance excellence standards for staff. Responsible for annual performance evaluations of staff. Evaluate skill gaps of staff and recommend/implement appropriate training.

11. Other job related duties as appropriately assigned.

Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Strong customer service skills can build retention and visibility as NCC strives to distinguish itself from its competitors. An individual in this position must possess the proficiency, wherewithal and knowledge of principles and processes for providing high-quality service to both internal and external constituents of the College.

1. Expert knowledge of operating systems - Novell, iOS, UNIX , DOS , Linux, BSD , Windows Servers and Active Directory.

2. Expert knowledge of physical layer of network, including hubs, routers, and bridges. Knowledge of bandwidth management and shaping tools.

3. In depth knowledge of infrastructure systems to include storage area networks, cloud storage systems, virtualization, Amazon Web Services, Azure, and backup and recovery systems.

4. In depth knowledge of unified communications encompassing network, telephone and email systems to include Office365.

5. In depth knowledge of internet protocols ( TCP /IP, DNS . DHCP , LDAP etc.), and system and cyber security to include anti-virus, intrusion prevention and detection, web filtering, encryption, and patch management. Expert knowledge of NIST -800 standards.

6. Ability to influence others and move toward a common vision or goal. Strong leadership and negotiation skills to build consensus with various individuals or groups at all organizational levels on campus.

7. Ability to motivate and manage a team of ITS staff and consultants supporting the College's goals.

8. Ability to work both as a team member and independently, depending on the nature of the task, and provide excellent customer service skills and performance standards for the team.

9. Ability to consistently demonstrate outstanding interpersonal skills in dealing with persons both internal and external to the College, for example systems integration vendor's engineers, consultants and technical support personnel of various hardware and software vendors. Possess a strong customer service ethic.

10. Ability to deal with several tasks and work with a large number of individuals concurrently; this position requires a person who is well organized, detail oriented, flexible and able to effectively prioritize tasks.

11. Ability and willingness to pursue additional training and to share such new knowledge to enhance the functionality and resources of the College's technology assets.

12. Strong project management skills.

13. Effective communication skills - both oral and written.

14. Intellectual curiosity and the ability to engage thought partners across functional areas.

Distinguishing Characteristics To act as the College's positive and proactive technology change agent in order to improve all aspects of the business of the College, including teaching, learning, administrative services and communications. In alignment with College objectives, this position will deliver technical services to the organization in an expedited, high quality and cost effective manner; as well as provide creative technical solutions to operational problems, working cross-functionally to identify, understand, and meet challenges from a technical perspective.

As this position includes a high degree of interaction with faculty, staff and students, the position requires a detail-oriented and results-driven individual who works well within team environments and has excellent communication skills, as well as good client interaction skills.

This position is privy to a great deal of personal and confidential information; exercise of a high degree of discretion is essential. It will require the application of several types of skills, including use of technology as well as interpersonal skills involved in maintaining positive long-term relationships. Education/Training Bachelor's degree in computer science or a related field is required. Master's degree in computer science or engineering, or an MBA is preferred. Experience Seven to ten (7-10) years of system administration or network engineering experience with at least three (3) years of senior level technology management-related experience. Proven record of implementing and supporting large scale distributed infrastructure, associated storage ( SAN ) and backup/disaster recovery including infrastructure design.
This position is on-call 24--7--365.

Licenses or Certifications Security certifications from ( ISC )2 and/or CompTia are preferred. PMP , Microsoft Administrator and/Engineer, and CISCO certifications are preferred.
