Swiss CNC Setup/Operator position is responsible for the operation
of Star CNC Swiss Lathes while adhering to all documented
procedures, including safety procedures. This Position is also
responsible for making quality parts and contributing to the
improvement of safety, quality, productivity, cost, and 5S of
Plans machining by studying work orders, blueprints, engineering
plans, materials, specifications, orthographic drawings, reference
planes, locations of surfaces, and machining parameters;
interpreting geometric dimensions and tolerances
Plans stock inventory by checking stock to determine amount
available; anticipating needed stock; placing and expediting orders
for stock; verifying receipt of stock.
Programs Multitasking lathes by entering instructions, including
zero and reference points; setting tool registers, offsets,
compensation, and conditional switches; calculating requirements,
including basic math, geometry, and trigonometry; proving part
Upload and Download programs to and from machine to
Sets-up Multitasking lathes by installing and adjusting three jaw
chucks, tools, attachments, collets, bushings, Bar loaders and
Loads barfeed by lifting stock into position.
Verifies settings by measuring positions, first-run part, and
sample workpieces; adhering to international standards.
Maintains specifications by observing drilling, grooving, and
cutting, including turning, facing, knurling and thread chasing
operations; taking measurements; detecting malfunctions;
troubleshooting processes; adjusting and reprogramming controls;
sharpening and replacing worn tools; adhering to quality assurance
procedures and processes.
Maintains safe operations by adhering to safety procedures and

troubleshooting malfunctions; calling for repairs.
Maintains continuity among work shifts by documenting and
communicating actions, irregularities, and continuing

While performing the duties of this job, the employee may be
required to walk, stand, sit and use hands to finger, handle, or
feel parts. The employee is frequently required to reach with hands
and arms and occasionally required to climb or balance; stoop,
kneel, and crouch.
The employee must regularly lift and /or move up to 25 pounds,
frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds or more with
appropriate assistance. Must be able to be on feet (not sitting) up
to 95% of the time.
The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate. Ear
protection may be required for certain processes. Closed-toed shoes
and eye protection are required for all activity on the shop
