Job Description:
Edward-Elmhurst Health includes three hospitals # Edward
Hospital, Elmhurst Hospital, and Linden Oaks Behavioral Health #
and an extensive ambulatory care network that provides
comprehensive healthcare to residents of the west and southwest
suburbs of Chicago. #Linden Oaks is a community based
non-for-profit facility that treats conditions such as anxiety,
depression, eating disorders and self-injury for adolescents and
adults. We are a leading center for the treatment of substance
abuse and offer services for each stage of the recovery process,
including inpatient and outpatient treatment, residential (for
adults) and detoxification. Our comprehensive eating disorders
program is nationally known and locally preferred The RN Resident
works under the direct supervision of a nurse preceptor, renders
nursing care for assigned patients in accordance with professional
nursing practice and physician and/or APC treatment plans in order
to provide quality patient care. PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND
RESPONSIBILITIES Assesses patients# condition based upon
observation and/or interview of patient, physicians# diagnosis,
laboratory results and any other pertinent information following
established nursing standards. # Under the direct supervision of
the clinical preceptor, prepares nursing/interdisciplinary care
plans consistent with assessment of patients# condition and
physicians# treatment plan and reviews care plans with senior
nursing personnel for complex, difficult and/or unfamiliar patient
conditions. # Monitors and evaluates patient#s response to nursing
care and interventions.# Modifies treatment plans for routine
cases, contacts senior nursing personnel to evaluate patient
condition and revise treatment plans, and/or contacts physicians as
circumstances require. # Observes and evaluates patients# symptoms,
progress and response to treatments and medications and initiates
appropriate action as indicated. # Documents and maintains records
and patient charts, reports patients# condition, medications given
and treatments administered as appropriate, and updates patients#
records.# Co-signature is required by nurse preceptor/senior nurse
until nursing license is obtained. # Provides routine instruction
to patients and family members regarding treatments,
medical/surgical procedures, nursing plans/interdisciplinary
treatment and so forth in order to allay apprehensions; explains
home care methods and techniques necessary for continuing Required
Education and/or Experience: Baccalaureate Degree or higher in
Nursing On rare occasions an internal candidate with an Associate#s
Degree in Nursing may be considered if they are currently enrolled
in an advanced degree course of study in nursing.# The RN must
obtain a Baccalaureate Degree or higher in Nursing within two years
of date of transfer to RN position.# Only candidates strongly
recommended by their Director and who have been evaluated as a top
performer will be considered for this position. Required
Certification and/or License: Documented proof of passing the NCLEX
and Illinois RN license application upon position start date.#
State of Illinois RN license must be obtained within 90 days of
position start date. ##If the State of Illinois RN license is not
obtained within 90 days of position start date, employee will be
subject to disciplinary action up to and including termination.
Current CPR issued by the American Heart Association CPI (Crisis
Prevention Intervention) certification within 90 days of hire
