Time, Non-exemptWork Hours: Wednesday - Friday 2:00 pm - 06:00 pm,
Saturdays 8:30 am - 12:30 pmUp to 19 hours per week. Hours may
change based on department's needs.
Compensation: $14.00 an hour
Position SummaryUnder the direction and supervision of the
Athletics Supervisor, the Athletics Assistant is responsible for
assisting the Athletics Department in administrative duties related
to planning, organizing, and supporting overall department goals,
related to the operations of the Athletics programs. Essential
Duties and Responsibilities
- Utilizes the recreational tracking software (RecTrac) to set up
Athletics programs, register participants if needed, track overall
data as requested by Athletics Supervisor, and other day to day
system support.
- Assists in the set up of adult and youth sports leagues
including, but not limited to, planning and organizing event dates,
confirming officials, and ordering and maintaining supply
inventory.
- Assists with the recruitment process of volunteers for the
youth sports programs by partnering with Human Resources to confirm
and aid with completion of volunteer onboarding process.
- Works with the Athletics Supervisor to ensure all equipment is
in good working condition and maintained.
- Responds to general inquiries for the Athletics department
which may include replying to emails and answering phone calls from
residents, participants, employees, vendors, leagues, etc.
- May drive to different Park District locations, as necessary,
utilizing District van.
- May fill in for Athletics Rental Attendants as requested by
supervisor which may include, preparing room/facility for Athletic
event use which includes, but is not limited to, performing set-ups
and take-downs, completing required cleanings, and ensuring
building is opened and closed before and after the event. This may
include locking/unlocking facility doors and disarming/arming alarm
systems.
- Set up and break down duties may include lowering the
basketball hoops, making sure court is ready and safe for play,
picking up all garbage from bleachers, bathrooms, and floors, and
returning scoreboard controls to designated area.
- Interacts effectively and professionally with both members of
the public and internal employees for events.
- Responds to all safety and emergency situations following all
required protocols and notifying necessary staff.
- Fills out appropriate accident/incident reports.
- Attends all regularly scheduled meetings or trainings.
- Performs other related duties and/or special projects as
assigned.Required Qualifications
- High School Diploma or Equivalent.
- 18 years of age or older.
- Must have valid driver's license and pass physical exam for
operating company vehicle.
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Programs.
- CPR and AED certified within (6) months of hiring (District
provided).
- Previous experience working in a Park District Athletics
program preferred.
- Bi-Lingual preferred.Competencies

and objectives.Working Conditions/Physical Requirements
- Requires sitting, standing, and occasional lifting. May require
lifting up to 25 lbs. to set up and stage areas for events.
- Will be required to work indoors and outdoors, which may lead
to hot and cold weather and related outdoor conditions, noise,
dust, etc., when working throughout the facilities.
